The personal information of more than 40 million Twitter users worldwide was put up for sale by hackers on the dark web.

Nowadays, a prominent organization's website being hacked, bank account being infiltrated, or social media or video tapes being leaked are not huge issues.

There isn't a week that goes by when hackers don't release massive amounts of data from a server into the dark web. Hackers stole the personal data of more than 400 million Twitter users on December 23 and put it up for sale on the dark web.

Among the data that hackers have posted on the dark web for sale are the emails and phone numbers of a number of well-known individuals, including Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Bollywood actor Salman Khan, and India's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

In order to avoid paying fines to governments all around the world, hackers have threatened Twitter management with buying the data themselves or have already made an offer to sell it.

According to them, the data was reportedly stolen by hackers between 2021 and 2022.

According to IT experts quoted in international media reports, Twitter experienced a server problem in 2021.

The Twitter staff, on the other hand, hasn't yet confirmed or disputed this.

What is the dark web, exactly?

This area of the Internet known as the "dark web," which is inaccessible to the typical Internet user, is tough to access, even for the intelligence services of the largest nations in the world.

The dark web is a market where not just women, drugs, and guns are bought and sold, but also video of sex crimes, personal data, and information.
